Her hand went straight through his shoulder and she almost fell into him with a startled gasp. Her heart jumped into her throat. For a split second, she thought that maybe she had just misjudged the distance. But then her mind caught up with her thoughts and scolded her, no. No. She hadn’t felt anything. No warmth, no resistance, no contact. She barely managed to pull back before her fingers would have touched the couch, not wanting to know if she would go through it.
