Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk’itan is drowning.
Not in the waters of Awa’atlu, though they are a constant struggle, but in the weight of his duty and the grief of a lost home. His only goal is to keep his family safe. He expected the cold welcomes and the harsh training, but he did not expect the Olo’eyktan’s son, Aonung, to be so personally, infuriatingly invested in making his life a living hell.

Summary
Aonung didn’t expect to achieve much in his life. He’s always destined to be the Olo’eyktan after his father ever since his birth, it’s basically written in the stars. His mother has always told him to focus on what’s important, and what’s important is the lives of his people in Awa’atlu. Putting his rebellious side aside, he also yearns to make sure that his parents will trust in his abilities to succeed them one day.
This was why he had felt so unsettled that he was the only one wary at the Sully’s arrival, these Omatikayans arriving out of the blue, even escaping from danger as well. He wonders why his father had taken them in so quick, and it makes his detestation grow at the sight of them prancing around the village.
That forest girl that’s among the outcasts prickles at his skin the most—how she seems to act like one of them so quick, thinking that she could ever be a part of the clan with her scrawny figure and her five fingers.
Who knew Eywa had a plan in mind that’s something that the both of them could never comprehend.

When the Sully's move to Awa'atlu in search of uturu, Lo'ak is sure he'll hate it. Unironically so, he does. He can see the way he stare at his hands, at the hair on his forehead. He can see the way they stare at him and see how ashamed he is to be there. After the war, Lo'ak is sure they're talking about him.

Waking up confused, Aonung doesn’t understand a lot of what is happening. He understands even less when many refuse to tell them, although part of that turns out to be his own fault. The only thing he does understand is that he has to endure slowly regaining his memories unless he wants to risk brain damage. Considering the little prick he was in his youth, the hurt he ends up causing the ones it turns out he cares about, he genuinely ponders the risk. Telling him already, he is more than he remembers.

After the Sky People return, the Omaticaya are horrified to learn of the RDA’s attack on the oceans of Pandora as they hunt the tulkun towards extinction. In the process the Na’vi of the reefs are slaughtered in their attempt to protect them. So when all hope is lost, the remaining Na’vi ask for refuge amongst other clans, leading an Olo'eyktan and his family directly to the Sully’s. Neteyam can’t decide how to handle the new addition to their already chaotic lives, until he starts to consider things outside of what he’s known or is expected of him. Leading to more than just new friends, but also a new take on life beyond the shadow of a legacy.
