It's a juvenile thing to worry over and it hits Jason, square in the throat, that it's juvenile because Bruce buried his fourteen year old son. Because it's exactly the thing Jason used to get in fights over: food, blankets, sweatshirts, resources he wasn't used to having. Jason's so tall now he probably wouldn't fit under the throw anyway, and Jason's nose itches when he realizes that he can't exactly call his dad to tell him that.
"Merry Christmas, Jason. I hope you're warm. I hope you're safe."
He isn't safe. He can never seem to get warm, even though it normally pushes ninety degrees in the desert. He feels marginally better at night, when the sun dips and the frigid wind starts to blow. At least then, it makes more sense to be cold.

This decision might’ve been influenced by the fact that Talia al Ghul decided to spring her son on him and also gaslight everyone into believing that Jason is her eldest child. Also, he kills his pseudo-grandfather and kind of accidentally becomes the new R’as al Ghul, because by now, he’s way too deep in Talia’s con-shit to back out.
…It all goes over surprisingly well.

The second thing you need to understand is that Bruce Wayne, sentimental bastard that he is, never disconnects said phone, even after Jason dies. Jason, upon receiving the phone, had recorded a voicemail message that he never got around to changing. His thirteen year old voice, still a little high and thready, is immortalized in that phone. Bruce calls so often he has it memorized, though he rarely actually leaves a message.
Dick Grayson, on the other hand, leaves a voicemail everytime.

Why the hell did Red Hood have him hostage? Why wasn’t his Father doing something? They seemed to be talking, although with Red Hood’s shaking fist, making sharp gestures with the gun, and with the slight glowing (green?) coming from his helmet's eye spots, he seemed furious.
Damian decided to jump down to a closer rooftop to get a better look, but that’s when he saw it. The moment that Red Hood had moved his gun to face Father, redirecting his aim to him, he fired once at the Bat. Batman threw a batarang. It ricocheted off the pipe, perfectly cutting between Red Hood’s small sliver of skin right above his jacket collar and directly beneath his helmet, and it slashed across his neck.
