Summary
Eddie had regrets from his time as a street and cage fighter, not the least of which being nearly killing a man. Mostly he regretted the unhealthy attempt to outlet his anger, and how he'd risked his position and responsibility in Christopher's life if he'd ever been caught or more severely punished.
Now, his biggest regret was that he'd assumed it was all behind him. His biggest regret was that his past moment of weakness had resulted in putting his son and Buck in danger. His biggest regret was that Buck had been hurt because of him, and he didn't know how to fix it—or if he'd ever be able to.

Summary
If the impending theft of his blueberry muffin by Buck was to be the worst part of Eddie's day, then he would be entirely content to let Buck steal his blueberry muffins for the rest of his life; like he wouldn't let him anyway.
Unfortunately, the two men looking to rob their favorite diner had other ideas.

Summary
Logically, he should’ve gone to Maddie. Maddie was a nurse, and he knew she was working night shifts at the moment. She would have held him as he cried, wrapped his wounds, and reassured him that everything would be alright. But while she would’ve been discrete and kept him out of the public eye as best she could, word would have gotten out faster than an ice cube melting in a volcano that Evan Buckley, son of business mogul Phillip Buckley (Founder and CEO of a prolific software company), had been beaten to shit.
All because of who he’d fallen in love with.

Summary
“Do you recognize him, Buck?” Bobby asked. “Or any of these guys?”
Buck shook his head lightly, mindful of agitating his injury. “None of them. I—I have no idea what’s going on, you gotta believe me—”
“I do, Buck, I do. Calm down, it’s alright.”
“I don’t know why he wants me,” Buck whispered, begging, pleading for Bobby to believe him. Fuck, being the cause of a firehouse siege had to be grounds for firing, he’d finally reached his last strike just weeks before his probie year ended.

Summary
Buck is cold more often than not. He spends most of his days burrowed in the bedding as well as he can manage, except for when he has to emerge to eat, drink, or relieve himself. Early on, he’d thought about just...not doing any of those things. He thought about ignoring the food and water and just letting himself waste away and not have to deal with this barren existence any longer.
After two days of not touching his food and water, Buck had woken up with a copy of his Will resting next to his face. The threat was clear; if Mackey couldn’t use Buck, he’d go after his beneficiaries for money. He’d go after Maddie, Eddie, and Christopher.
Buck has kept to his routine ever since.

Summary
Buck looked up again and sighed; the breath sounded graveled as it travelled through Buck’s throat. “I’m fine.” His voice sounded wrecked, too.
“The fact that you’re starting the conversation with that when I haven’t even asked you anything speaks volumes,” Eddie said, unimpressed.

When Buck doesn't show up for his shift, Bobby's first instinct is to worry. Their probie was many things, but tardy without reason or prior warning was not one of them.

Evan was a United States Navy SEAL and torture would not break him. He would not betray his country and fellow servicemen and women, he would stay strong—

As Buck tried to psych himself up, he wondered if he could get away with a little white lie when the team eventually found him.

Summary
The LAFD and LAPD have long acknowledged a lag in emergency response time relative to the national average. First responders across the country are expected to arrive to nearly all emergency calls within six minutes, a national standard the LAFD and LAPD routinely fail. This delay can result in increased medical issues, delayed arrests, and even death.
Today, this pattern of delay may have even more severe consequences, not just for the victims of emergencies, but for first responders themselves.

The main reason Maddie had chosen to move into this apartment complex was because of its gated security, and Buck would never sacrifice his sister's sense of safety just so he wouldn't feel awkward about denying a stranger piggybacked access to the apartment complex.

Or, Buck gets home before Chimney arrives for his date with Maddie.

Summary
Maybe it said something about Buck as a person that his biggest complaint about being kidnapped was that his kidnapper was a terrible driver. And Buck was from the northeast, he was allowed to critique bad drivers. But seriously, the police had only been chasing him for five minutes when he ran off the road and into an undetermined body of water—
Okay, the threat of drowning was officially Buck's biggest complaint now.
