Summary
It started in a Gotham coffee shop. Technically, it started the day Danny died in his parents’ basement, but this slow, curling fixation began the moment Timothy Drake-Wayne walked inside, and something in Danny’s core snapped taut toward him. Hook. Line. Sinker. The ghost hovering behind Tim didn’t help, either, a translucent Robin with empty eyes staring straight through Danny. And then there was Phantom—Danny’s fused other half—purring with hungry, delighted want.
Danny claims he’s only helping Tim with his ghost problem. Then he claims he’s only humoring Tim’s paranormal inquiries. Then he claims he’s only following Tim out of curiosity. But eventually, Danny stops lying.
Ghost Kings aren’t supposed to form new obsessions. Danny already has three: space, heroism, and protecting his people. But Tim is a different kind of obsession: sharp enough to cut, brilliant enough to tempt, exhausted enough for Danny to worry and Phantom to salivate.
Danny shouldn’t enjoy how this new obsession coils around his ribs like another heartbeat. He shouldn’t like the dark and twisted thoughts playing out in his mind. And he shouldn't like how it feels when Phantom murmurs: Mine.
But he does. He really, really does...
