Getting a centaur to find the golden record was an incredible interdisciplinary feat on both sides. A team had already established reliable radio contact and centaur linguists deciphered a few major human languages and representatives decided on the ambitious project, but then diplomats had to elect said astronauts among thousands of competing clans and then alien engineers had to figure out how to ship all the horse-sized equipment to the off-road planet, then finally get those horse-sized astronauts into space.
