Yeah so this is my first published Ao3 work, I'm not sure where this is going I just wanted to play with the existing characters and have one of the sons of Ragnar create the Varangian Guard. Norse and Greek mythologies have so many similarities and I wanted to do a sort of 'one thousand and one nights' thing with it, but with maybe a bit of horror and supernatural elements. Chris and Sheva escaped the secret facility of a joint Tricell and Umbrella facility, chasing Wesker to a cargo ship. And then here the second event changed the world; they still brought the assault bomber down, but Wesker was never confirmed dead, and the virus spread not through the air but through the water. Part of the aircraft had crashed into the sea, and it wasn't with the Uroboros virus, but with just a regular strand of the T-Virus, and as it spread, fish captured from it transferred the virus due to both eating the fish and also the vitamins that are made from fish oil. And then the world collapsed, but Umbrella remains. Wesker activated and got running several of the old facilities, promising safety and protection in return for loyalty again.
