Summary
“How did you sleep?”
“Like I was dead.”
Ardyn stabbed the pink meat slices and shoved them into his mouth. He could feel Verstael staring at him across the table, watching him with steady eyes while ignoring his own plate.
“You really are unworthy of the apple of immortality.”“No less than you,” Ardyn shoved another strip of meat and crispy strings into his mouth. They crunched between his teeth and the meat slid over his tongue, salt and fat stimulating the saliva glands in his cheeks. Yet Verstael remained uncannily still, watching him. Like a creep.
“Why steal the apples when you can plant your own tree?”

Summary
“You say that this civilization of Solheim possessed technological wonders. Have you yet to acquire any of them?”
“Yes, in fact, though the results are still under much scrutiny,” he answers. “But that is where you come in. With the ability to daemonify anything you wish, we may yet have much advancement towards the goal of conquering Lucis, something which serves both our purposes and ushers in a new era of civilization. I’m certain daemons hold the key to this new future.”
“So, you seek to rebuild Solheim in these modern times?” he asks. He can’t help but feel sickened at the thought, the vestiges of his upbringing lingering in his thoughts.
“To surpass them,” the scientist answers. As much as Ardyn Izunia, né Lucis Caelum, enjoys his current station, this was not always the case. Having survived execution and now two millennia removed from his time, he finds himself in a new, unfamiliar world. One Chief Besithia acts as both guide and influencer.

Summary
When Ardyn first met Somnus's general, he imagined his distaste for him was mutual. How could he think otherwise of the young man behind every move his tool of a brother made on the field?
As it turned out, he detested Ardyn less than the healer gave him credit for, and his gentle nature hiding underneath a stern facade made it easy for Ardyn to fall for him.

Summary
Dreams always allow us to see from a different perspective. Sometimes they allow us to meet people we never dreamed we would. Even if they are not from the same world we are from. We could love those people. We could laugh along with them. We could even cry for them. But I loved all of them with all of my heart and I would have given anything for a chance to meet a few of them for just a few minutes. To tell them that...I didn't know exactly the pain they felt. Exactly how bad it hurt them. But if I could take the pain they felt and share it with them, I would have. I would have hugged them, cried along side them due to losses that were unimaginable and hard to bare. I would have walked tall beside them when they had to move on from that loss and build an even brighter future for those that would come after them.
