Summary
Alicia could not save Gustave from her father's ambush, but she managed to keep him from dying. Having learned the truth about their world and the Paintress, he wants nothing more than to catch up to the rest of his expedition and warn them before they can inadvertently wipe out their own people, and the fact that he has just suffered a couple of technically-fatal injuies is not going to stop him.
On their journey to the monolith, Alicia and Gustave are joined by two unexpected and unlikely companions, but even Alicia cannot tell what exaclty her brother is planning, and between the injuries slowing them down and the lack of Esquie for transport, they may simply not make it before everything is lost. -

When she first wakes she actually assumes her mother has returned to the Canvas and restored them all.
This assumption feels legitimized by her waking in the manor, tucked into bed and nowhere near the Reach where she had finally found rest.
Except…
Except, when she goes up to the garden she can see a glowing golden 33 painted on the Monolith's face.
Something has gone wrong.
Or; Alicia somehow wakes up before Expedition 33 step foot on the Continent and decides “y’know what? It's time for me to be the main character!”

Gustave is a very peculiar elf, first of all elves despise technology yet Gustave loves it, he loves it so much hé became an engineer. Second, elves lives in community yet Gustave left the town who considered him a parriat to live by himself in a forest next to the forest of the Gestral village. And third of all, elves don't like humans and yet Gustave find them fascinating, the way they compensate their lack of mystical caracteristics with technology is something Gustave wants to see by himself, oh he so desire to see a train one day. So what happened if one day a very peculiar family build a house overnight and start to live at the flower glade next to where he blocked the entrances and paths that could lead to his house ?

Verso let Gustave die on those cliffs, but he couldn't bring himself leave him there.
He should know that despite good intentions, his sentimentality has never ended well for him.
This becomes even more evident to him as he watches the picto he contained Gustaves chroma in, dissolve into his skin.

I'll try to come up with a better summary in the future, but for now I don't have all my ideas fleshed out so bear with me and the basic outline I came up with a little, please :(
Basically:Verso is still working on his dream of being a composer, but has had to leave home to freely pursue his aspirations
He works at a cafe/bar and the only reason he keeps the job even though he’s TERRIBLE at making coffee and all his drinks are pretty much just straight liquor is because he plays the piano and he gets the courage to try some of his new pieces there in Lumiere
Maelle is still obsessed with becoming a painter- studies at the coffee shop because she has a sweet tooth and is convinced that "serious artists" drink their coffee black
Gustave- an inventor (still), heavily invested in preventing further climate change-working on a way to make solar panels more efficient and have more widespread use

Summary
Set before the events of the game.
Verso, in his remaining six years before making the selfless sacrifice to save his little sister, Alicia, goes through many highs and lows admist several life changing events.
Being a part of the Dessendre family is not easy. Not when he has to live in the shadow of his oppressive parents, a life forced to paint, Verso is desperate for a normal life, where he can be his own person and persue his dream in music.
When he finds love with a handsome, aspiring electrical engineer and part time violinist, friction between Verso, Aline and Renoir reaches a breaking point. With so much to leave behind, including his sisters, dogs and childhood canvas, he is torn between two incredibly difficult choices. And two very different lives.
Gustave, who has a heart of gold and everything a young man could need when starting out in life, offers the emotionally tortured painter/pianist a life line. A bond built from unrelenting love and trust, Verso and Gustave vow to spend the rest of their lives together, unaware that tragedy is lurking on the horizon and that fate will eventually tear them away from each other forever.

Medium to large in size he would think, his head is about half way up Verso’s thigh sitting next to him. His coat was short, light caramel brown, black and white fur, medium size nose length and pointed ears. ‘Definitely a mutt of some variety, maybe something with a terrier?’
“Good morning to you too, Gustave. Can I help you?” Verso asks, his tone seemingly annoyed but he had an amused tilt to his lips that was on its way to a smile.
AU - In which everyone in the canvas ends up reasonably adjusted, and Verso has a dog.
