The streets of Austin were filled with people, the chaos and the noise drifted around the two Ferrari drivers as they pushed through the crowd to head to the restaurant Sebastian had booked for them to share a meal in. It was always insanely busy in town after a race weekend.
Speaking of the race, Kimi had won while Sebastian had to settle for forth. It hadn't been the German's finest moment, but getting to see Kimi win? It made up for what had happened during the race.
Kimi's win was incredible, his first since 2013 and if the two of them were being honest with each other, it would be Kimi's last. They had to celebrate that, so Sebastian had booked them a table at a restaurant so they could celebrate together.
"It's too busy." Kimi pulls a face as he follows his boyfriend through the crowd.
"I know, it's not too far now." Sebastian promises, squeezing his hand tightly in his as they continue on.
"I hope so." Kimi sighs quietly, hating the noise and the press of the crowd all around them. "Couldn't we just have ordered room service?"
"You deserve a celebration, not a meal in a hotel room." Sebastian answers, looking around them. "Oh hey, why don't we take a break in that alleyway?"
"Is that even safe?" Kimi raises an eyebrow at him.
"Do you want to keep going through this?" Sebastian asks in return, nodding to the people around them.
Kimi sighs heavily, "I suppose not, okay we can take five minutes."
Sebastian pulls him into the alleyway, checking on Kimi who looks more relaxed now that he was away from the crowd.
Kimi leans against the wall, huffing out a laugh when Sebastian immediately presses in close to him, their noses brushing as they gazed into each other's eyes. "I thought we needed space?"
"From the crowd? Yes. From you? No." Sebastian smiles sweetly, pressing a gentle kiss to his nose. "Maybe this will make you feel better about being in the crowd."
"What, making out near some trash bins? You're not the most romantic are you?" Kimi teases, but he's already leaning up to kiss him, their mouths inches apart.
"I don't hear you complaining." Sebastian murmurs, his hand against Kimi's neck as he leans in closer-
Suddenly Sebastian feels something pressing in against his back, he freezes as he slowly turns his head and hears a voice close to him.
"Step back and away from your partner."
Fear shoots through his body and he slowly raises his hands as he backs away from Kimi. The fear in Kimi's own eyes breaks his heart. "We mean no harm, what do you want?"
"Your wallets and your phones, NOW!" The man orders, the object presses in against Sebastian's back again and his brain registers it as a knife. The fear makes his heart race, and he shakily takes out his wallet and phone. He hands them to the man, begging Kimi to do the same with his own items.
But to Sebastian's horror, Kimi is looking defiantly at the man robbing them. "Fuck off, I am not giving you anything."
"Kimi," Sebastian tries to warn, but in the next second the man has Kimi pinned up to the wall with the knife now against his throat.
"You want to test me? Give me your fucking wallet and phone before I slit your throat." The man snaps, Kimi's eyes are wide with fear, it makes Sebastian's world narrow down to just that moment. Kimi and his fear, Kimi with the knife against his throat. His Kimi was in danger.
It all happens so suddenly, Sebastian doesn't think.
He promised himself, promised his friends he would never reveal what he could do. But Kimi was in danger, he couldn't let him get hurt.
He raises his hand, directing all his anger and fear at the man holding his boyfriend captive, the power rushes like it always has done and he feels his nose begin to bleed.
"Get the fuck away from him!" He yells as he shoves the man away from Kimi using his mind. The man goes flying into the back of the alley, falling on a heap on the ground unconscious.
Sebastian breathes heavily, slowly lowering his hand as he feels his nose drip with blood. The power rushes out, leaving him exhausted.
He looks up, meeting Kimi's eyes.
His Kimi, who looks afraid of him. An expression Sebastian never wanted to see on his face, ever.
"I can explain." Sebastian gets out, holding out his hands to Kimi, "please let me…"
"Is he dead?" Kimi whispers, moving slowly over to the man. Sebastian can see the moment his shoulders sag with relief. "He's unconscious," he turns to Sebastian then, moving over to him and cupping his cheek. "Hey, look at me?"
Sebastian does so, knowing he must look a mess.
"You need to explain, but first lets get out of here? Fuck the restaurant, we need to talk." Kimi's voice is firm.
Sebastian nods, knowing Kimi is right.
The two make their way out of the alley, blending in with the crowd as soon as they could.
"Hold still." Kimi's voice is soft as he holds a wet cloth under Sebastian's nose to wipe away the blood. Sebastian does as he's told, noting how tender Kimi is being. They're back in the hotel room, the two close to each other on the edge of the bed.
"It's fine, it's what happens when I use my powers." Sebastian admits, using his hand to stop Kimi's movements. "I'm fine, I promise."
"You have powers? Since when?" Kimi lowers the wash cloth, his eyes hurt. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Sebastian sighs softly, trying to think where to start. "They appeared when I was eleven years old. Me and my friends were playing football and one of my friends ran into the road to grab the ball. He didn't see the car coming, but I did. I don't know what happened, I just sort of-" Sebastian lifts his hand, "-raised my hand up and begged the car to stop. It did, it stopped inches from my friend. The wheels were still turning but the car was stopped, it was like I was holding it there. My friend got off the road and I somehow let go. The car drove off, but swerved off the road and into a lampost. The driver was okay, but me and my friends ran away."
He pauses a second, huffing quietly. "We all thought it was cool, I had powers! We used to meet up every day and have me practice them. It was fun, until we realised the danger." He takes Kimi's hand in his. "Those who are different will attract the wrong attention. We knew that I'd be in deep shit if anyone else found out, so I kept it secret from everyone. My parents, my other friends, you." He looks sad, "I kept it from you to keep you safe, not because I didn't trust you. But I couldn't stand by and allow someone to hurt you."
Kimi nods slowly, taking it all in. His hand moves to squeeze Sebastian's. "I get it, but I want to marry you someday. You had to tell me before that point, you know that right?"
"I do know that." Sebastian raises their joined hands to kiss Kimi's hand. He meets his gaze, "I am sorry, I was just afraid of what could happen if you knew."
"The bad guys?" Kimi raises a sceptical eyebrow.
"You never know." Sebastian shrugs, but he knows it's a weak reason not to tell Kimi.
"Was there a fear I would reject you?" Kimi asks quietly, proving just how preceptive he was of Sebastian and where his thoughts tended to go.
"I thought you'd think I was a freak." Sebastian admits in a soft voice.
"Never." Kimi's voice is firm and he lets go of Sebastian's hand to place his hands on his cheeks. "You're my Sebastian, you will always be mine. You're not a freak, you are incredible."
Tears well up in Sebastian's eyes and he allows Kimi to bring him in for a sweet loving kiss, a kiss that touches his soul and makes him feel whole.
When they part, Kimi leans their foreheads together, looking shy. "What else can you do?"
"Hmm." Sebastian looks around the room. Seeing Kimi's trophy on the table, he gives a quick tilt of his head and the trophy flies off of the table and into his hand.
Kimi's awed look is everything.
"I can do a lot." Sebastian grins as he hands Kimi the trophy. He can almost see the gears turning in Kimi's head. "But no more right now, I'm tired. If you want to try kinky shit we can do it another day."
"How do you know I was thinking of that?" Kimi asks, getting up off of the bed to place the trophy down on the table carefully.
"Kimi." Sebastian's voice is filled with amusement, "I've been with you for three years now. I know you."
"You've got me there." Kimi grins, moving to sit next to Sebastian again and rest his head against his shoulder. "I'm glad you have these powers, you saved my life."
Sebastian snuggles into his side, trying not to think about the knife against Kimi's throat. "I would do it all over again for you."
The two of them lapse into silence, but a comfortable one, until Kimi gently pipes up, "If you really want to celebrate my win we could-"
"Tomorrow, Kimi." Sebastian snorts, hugging him close. "I promise you."
"I'm just saying it would be hot if you pinned me down with your-"
"Tomorrow." Sebastian says firmly, but he's smiling. "You are insane."
"You love me though." Kimi answers, looking up at him.
Meeting the Finn's warm gaze, Sebastian realises how deeply he loves Kimi. He would do anything for this man. Face any danger, climb any mountain. Kimi was worth everything to him.
Which in turn meant he would be in danger if anyone else knew what Sebastian could do.
Sebastian would kill them if they tried to hurt him.
"I love you too." Sebastian whispers, his voice soft in the quiet of their hotel room.
"Promise?" Kimi whispers, his voice hesitant.
Yeah, Sebastian would kill for this man.
Hugging him closer to his body, he presses a loving kiss to Kimi's head and practically hides him in his arms.
No matter what, he would protect Kimi.
"Promise."
