Work Text:
A collective sigh lingered in the steam of the hot spring as the warm water seeped into their tired bodies.
“Now this…” Ritsuka began, sinking further into the hot spring with his eyes half-lidded. “This is some good stuff.”
Mafuyu hummed and nodded with a towel covering his eyes. His orange hair bounced with the movement. “Mm, I agree. Thank you, Uenoyama-kun.”
“Hah?” came the sleepy reply. He could barely look at Mafuyu’s slumped form. “Why are you thanking me?”
The water rumbled with Mafuyu’s laughter. “I don’t know, Uenoyama-kun…”
“And why are you suddenly using honorifics?”
“I’m just tired, Ue-kun…”
“Yeah well,” Ritsuka groaned and shifted closer to Mafuyu. “I’m as tired as a dog.”
“Mm, I’m as tired as a non-dog,” Mafuyu’s speech slurred, pressing his shoulder on Ritsuka’s.
“What the hell does that even mean?”
“It means I’m so tired I’m not even as tired as a dog.”
“Oh, so-?”
“My god!” Hiiragi punched the water with his fist and splashed large waves of the hot spring towards the two idiots. “Is this what you two sound like in bed when you’re both about to fall asleep??” he splashed again at the surprised and confused expression on their faces, causing a lot of the water to flow out of the pool. “There’s like zero nutrition in your conversation!”
Mafuyu and Ritsuka quickly whipped away to shield each other from the onslaught. But Mafuyu managed to take his towel off his eyes to wipe his face before patting it on Ritsuka’s wet hair.
“You’ve really been overworking us, Hiiragi…” Mafuyu frowned with a pointed look, the towel working through Ritsuka’s spiky strands. “You and Shizu-chan really don’t know when to stop.”
“I don’t see you complaining when Uenoyama does the same thing in your band,” Hiiragi bristled and he finally stopped splashing the water around like a child. “Your damn workaholic of a boyfriend is very much the same.”
Ritsuka scoffed and splashed back. “Doesn’t mean I like being told to work day and night for a band I’m only supposed to be a support guitarist for!”
“Oi!” Hiiragi’s arms came up to shield his face.
“And I’m only supposed to be a guest for your concert,” Mafuyu added as he discarded the towel outside the hot spring. He ganged up on to the splashing, forming a wave with Ritsuka. “Aren’t you supposed to be more lenient towards collaborating artists?”
Hiiragi squelched towards Shizusumi and gripped onto his shoulders. He pulled him in front of the line of fire, and blocked all of the incoming attacks.
“Shizu, splash back!!!”
“I’m not a pokemon…” Shizu responded with a hint of resignation, and he turned his face to the side to avoid the water from getting into his mouth.
Ritsuka and Mafuyu’s eyes softened at Shizu’s disinterest in getting involved, and they whirled around him to aim the splashing water at Hiiragi instead.
“Wahhh! Stop it!!!” Hiiragi splashed back mindlessly, accidentally getting some on Shizu as well. “I don’t wanna drink water with your dick in it, Uenoyama!!!!”
“You think I do?!” Ritsuka’s gaze sharpened again. “You’re small as hell by the way!!”
“Excuse me?!?!!” Hiiragi launched himself towards Ritsuka and wrapped his arm around his neck. Then, he pulled both of them down under the water, bubbly and incoherent arguments forming underneath the surface.
Mafuyu and Shizu stared speechlessly, watching as the hot spring overflowed and wavered with their boyfriends’ exaggerated movements.
“…Do you think they’ll be okay?” Mafuyu tried, hesitantly meeting Shizu’s gaze.
Shizu’s face was as stoic as ever. “They’ll stop when they’re not.”
“Shizu…” Mafuyu sighed.
When the two of them finally resurfaced, their heads barely bobbed out of the water despite the shallow depth of the pool. They panted violently for air, hair completely drenched, but they both seemed all the more ready for another round.
“You’re not even that big!” Hiiragi finally shot back.
And so they went under again. Kicking and squirming under the water to form faint bubbles and splashes that barely managed to reach the surface. Mafuyu and Shizu continued to stare with flat eyes.
“Good thing we booked a VIP hot spring,” Shizu remarked as he lazily swam towards a far off edge of the pool. He pressed his back on the wall and sat down on an elevated slab, closing his eyes to distance himself from all the chaos.
Nodding, Mafuyu followed suit but kept a bit of proximity between him and Shizu to maintain personal space. The tension slowly left his body as the relaxing warmth of the water seeped into his bones again.
