Chapter 1: (no perspective, initial setup) welcome to cancelled high!
The air was hot with conversation as the students trickled into the beige, freshly mopped halls of cancelled high. The only public high school in the town that encompassed swell memories for most in the area. Naturally it didn't take long for usual student antics to occur whilst their brains were still in "summer mode" as teachers called it. Just at first period alone crumpled-up paper balls and whispers of secrecy crowded the room even more then students already did. The teachers cracked open a fresh box of white chalk for the year as the nostalgic smell began to fill the classroom. Sounds like a pretty par of the course school, correct? However cancelled high's head council decided to be "adventurous" as they stated on their website; this year in particular a special "gifted class" was announced and put into action. The rules to enter were fairly simple, have an actively steady grade in one subject and you would be entered into a lottery for the class. This proved to create a wide range of kids in the classroom all with a different talent or interest. Some liked music other coding, debating ETC... All teachers (and students alike) were worked up about was " what mayhem would a class like this possibly unleash upon the school?" and I guess there was only one way to find out.
Chapter 2: (colleen/Miranda sings perspective) What did you expect? The unexpected
Colleen looked confused around the classroom of students rashly running and hollering, "was this really the GIFTED class?" peering closer in the room, to colleen's dismay, there was in fact a slip of paper reading "colleen" on a desk point and center into the chaos, she slowly walked through the mess of kids occasionally throwing somebody an award smile or wave to no prevail in making any alliances in this mayhem. She scooched into her seat clutching her ukelele case as close to her chest as she could in the cramped space "how is my ukelele going to survive this, hell how am I supposed to survive this?" suddenly the period bell rang ad each student swiftly sat down in their seat and greeted the teacher as they walked in like nothing had ever happened in the first place, "hello students" he said standing before them proudly "I'm proud to be your teacher this month, for every subject as the gifted class will not be participating in rotary this year" the class gave a puzzled look to the teacher for a split second before it relinquished and they all accepted the new fact with open arms. The teacher turned around and grabbed a fresh piece of chalk perfect and untouched. he wrote his name on the board whilst reading it aloud "My name is Mr. Obama" he stated with an ever-growing smile "Obama huh? I think I've heard that name before" colleen thought wincing at the board. "Now students, as part of orientation you may continue in the subject you were chosen for, colleen let out a quiet sigh of relief as she was pretty satisfactory at what she did. Colleen happened to be the leader of the school's band even since she was in nineth grade, she was a star student playing the ukelele and when she saw the fliers for the gifted class in the late sunny June, she knew she'd have a pretty good chance at getting there. Now there she was watching as her fellow students got out their papers and laptops like they had been anticipating it this entire time. All except for one girl right beside her, a girl with striking auburn hair and thousand-mile stare worthy green eyes. The girl just stared into the abyss of nothing in front of her, eyebrows arched upwards. Without thinking Coleen blurted out "Hey... are you ok?" before she could stop herself, the girl looked over to her revealing a most definite worried look. "Yeah, I'm fine thanks" The girl replied coldly looking away "You don't look ok. Are you sure"
Colleen lightly touched the girl's shoulder in an attempt to keep her there, but she rashly pulled back and relinquished back into her own seat. "It's not like you need to know; don't you have something else to do?" Coleen paused before thinking of a risky response "Well yes but I can't even fathom playing a ukelele while you're sitting here pouting!" her voice got a little stronger but even more shaky. "Fine I'll tell you if it means you get to play your precious ukelele." the girl sighed firmly; "you see, I got into this classroom by mistake I was chosen for my math skills but," she paused for a second trying to get rid of the sadness in her eyes "that's not what I was intended to enter for; I wanted to be chosen for my writing skills that is my real passion. But now that I'm here for my math skills I will have to continue to practice my math skills and not my writing" the girl sat higher in her seat like a giant weight was lifted from her chest. "Well, what's your name..." colleen replied looking up at the ceiling in thought "Rowling, J.K Rowling" She whispered getting more confident in her words as she went on "Hmm well Rowling I might have a way to help you out" colleen's face shifted to a grimace before staring directly at Rowling now perked up "how?" she almost screamed as her pencil dropped out of her hand. "I have a plan" colleen rubbed her hands together like an evil mastermind. After school in the bus colleen thought "she had never stepped out of the lines especially at a place like school. she was a star student could this risk her whole music career. However, was it worth it for a friend?" Colleen stopped abruptly in her thought "friend" she repeated in her mind again "friend, friend, friend..."
this girl was her friend. "Yes, friend that's a nice word" she pondered 'friend' the sentiment felt new yet familiar it was comfortable, reliable. she concluded her monologue of thought with a simple answer "yes." she murmured quietly in her seat looking out the window with wide eyes "yes"
