Azur Lane: Silent Service

Summary:

What do the submarines of Azur Lane do when they are not on mission? This slice of life story will be a series of short stories detailing the lives of the silent hunters of Azur Lane. There will be ten stories, one for each faction, including the META Ships.

Notes:

Hi there.

I figured that I would write a fanfiction that is a slice of life. Such as Azur Lane: Slow Ahead was to the starters and Azur Lane: Queen’s Orders was to Queen Elizabeth, but smaller.

This fanfiction will be about the exploits and adventures of the submarines of Azur Lane.

There will be both original concepts for the submarines that are not in Azur Lane, and submarines already in Azur Lane.

I plan for this Fanfiction to be a short one, around only 10 stories, each covering the factions of Azur Lane, plus the META ships as the last chapter.

With this out of the way, please enjoy.

Chapter 1: Oktoberfest

Chapter Text

U-96 rose out of bed in her dorm in the Ironblood dormitories. She still had her pink nightshirt on. She then heard a distinct knock on her door. It was to the tune of the jingle that the Ironblood newsreels would often use.

U-96 opened her door to the sight of U-505, a Type IXC U-boat, wearing a sundress with white flowers on it.

She had blonde hair that was long like Bismarck, in fact, she kind of looked like a smaller version of Bismarck, but she had a scar under her left eye and on her neck

“Good morning U-96, Today is Oktoberfest, do you want to come with me? I’ll bring U-47, U-99, and U-100 with me.”

U-96 smiled and said that would be a good idea, and that she will join them once she gets dressed.

With that, U-96 closed the door and changed into some casual clothes. She changed into a pair of leggings and a purple t-shirt.

Once U-96 was dressed, she walked down the stairs to meet with the other U-boats.

She then saw U-47 with her black hair with a red streak in it, wearing a green tank top and a pair of black jean shorts.

U-96 also saw U-99, standing silently, not saying a word. She was wearing an orange shirt and a baseball hat that covered her auburn hair.

U-100, wearing a blue baseball hat that covered her short blonde hair. She was also wearing a yellow V-neck t-shirt and a pair of blue and white gym shorts.

U-100 began to talk to the group, telling them that they could be late if they did not hurry.

U-505 asked U-100 if that was yet another one of her lies, which U-100 had a habit of doing.

U-100 insisted it was the truth, and with that information, the group left to go to the Oktoberfest festivities.

Once they reached the fairgrounds where the festivities were taking place, the group decided to get some food.

They all got themselves some bratwurst, sausage, and pretzels, with some beer in a glass mug that resembled a boot.

U-505 took the opportunity to giggle as she was eating, pointing at the boot and at U-96, saying “Hey look 96, It’s you.”

U-96 gave a half-hearted laugh as she understood what she meant by that.

Once they were done eating, they went into the center of the fairgrounds where the music from a polka band was playing.

Then, the group saw something they thought they would never see.

It was the sight of Bismarck, walking around in a traditional Ironblood beer maid outfit, seeing mugs full of frothy beer.

They all walked up to Bismarck to buy some more beer.

Once they were done drinking, they saw Prince of Wales, talking to Bismarck and Hood. They knew that Prince of Wales and Hood were on good terms with Bismarck, often being seen hanging out together.

After a few hours, the festivities wound down. U-100 was trying to lead the group, but due to the amount of beer, she drank, she could barely stand up to walk, let alone lead a group of almost equally drunk U-boats.

U-96 thought to herself that all this drinking reminded her of the amount of drinking she would do at the La Rochelle nightclub.

She had oddly fond memories of tearing up the place, partying, and drinking something fierce. This was often before having to go out to sea to hunt for convoys, and often being hungover and red-eyed while on patrol.

Out of the group, U-505 was just about able to talk a consistent sentence. Even the often quiet U-99 could not say a single word without her words slurring, sounding like a dying animatronic.

Likely for them, they found Blucher. They asked her if she could drive them home to the Ironblood dorms, as they were in no shape to drive.

Using their riggings to go home was equally a bad idea. Water and drunkenness often never mix.

U-96 knew this from experience. She accidentally attacked a floating dock that she thought was a massive siren merchant ship with a torpedo. She got the mother of all chewing-outs from Bismarck while she was hungover and could barely understand what was happening.

While the group was being driven home by Blucher, U-96 began singing “It’s a long way to Tipperary”, and the whole group began to join her in singing.

By the fourth time that they fully sang the song, they were home in the Ironblood dorms. U-505 was carrying U-100 to her dorm, with U-96, U-99, and U-47 all walking to their dorms.

U-96 then changed into her pink nightshirt, and then tucked herself into bed, ready for the hangover of tomorrow to happen.
