Stuck in Northern Ninjago and moving from village to village looking for Wu, Jay and Cole have their own demons they're battling. Cole is concerned about the weight he's gained since Wu's disappearance, feeling like he's gone soft and his body isn't the temple it should be. Jay is trying to hide the freckles and scars that litter his body, but makeup is really hard to come by out here.
They're also fighting the deep attraction they feel for each other...
Though, one snowed-in night in an abandoned hunting cabin alone with each other is all it takes for several truths to come out.

Jay nods in soft, aching, understanding. "I get it." He whispers, carefully trying to trace Cole's face with his eyes, trying to hold onto a specific detail before it slips through his fingers, before it loses it's form.
"I know you do."

A well-deserved dinner among the ninja, after saving Ninjago that same day, led to a story about what the four of them and their little sensei had been through, not forgetting the little detail about Jay losing his mind for a few days and laughing about it. Nya, surprised by this point in the story, decided to keep it in mind for later, wanting to open the conversation and find out more once they were alone.

Now Jay has to pull out some shenanigans out his ass while still dealing with the whole "I saw my friends die in front of me after getting tortured and had to crash the wedding of my crush after she sacrificed herself for me only to get sent to another universe"
And no one(including me) knows what they’re doing! (Its either angst + trauma or him actl getting therapy for what happened on the ship bc he talks to someone, maybe it's both[or not].)

I DO NOT OWN ANY CHARACTERS OR THINGS MENTIONED IN THIS FICJay's trust is forever broken. For as long as he can remember, he's been lied to and played with. Well, not anymore. So it surprises even him when he accepts the ninja's offer to stay at their monastery. Things get worse when Jay starts remembering his actual past, and it has to do with pirates? Not to mention the stupid, magnetic tug he feels every time he's around the water ninja...
Nya would rather die than go through what she went through after the merge again. She promised herself years ago that the first person she would tell would be Jay, her yang. But this Jay is so much more different than the Jay who loved and adored her. Nya doesn't think she could tell him anything. But she doesn't know how long she can go on like this, without telling anyone. She didn't know how long she could hold on.
In other words, Jay's only memories are of the nefarious Nadakhan, and Nya's been through.. a lot after the merge. They don't have anywhere to go to. Except each other...
